Reality Check

Just recently Parachute Festival 07 was cranking down at Mystery Creek in Hamiltron, Waikatoooooooo. It was a legendary time and bands like Falling Up, Spacifix, Late 80s Mercedes etc etc took to the stage and thrashed it big time.

One of the massive things that God spoke to me about through that weekend is an incredibly important and life changing attitude on life.

God is so so REAL

I know that this is just the cliche and often constant line that is spoken by many people, but try to look at it deeper than just the surface.

God is REAL

All other "religions" and "World Views", however you name them, NONE; I mean NONE, can give you an experience that will make your spirit jump like one that Jesus Christ can give you.

The fact that God speaks to us and that we can speak back to Him is enough to make you live just for that one moment. When you are engaged in a convesation with the one who set the world in motion; no matter whether it be deep and meaningful or just an inhouse joke with Him, something within you comes alive.

Something awakens and starts to crave more and more of God, something happens that you didnt expect.

It feels so incredible because the thing that is engaging with God is our spirit - the most important thing God gave us. The fact is, this is the way God wants our life to be like every single minute of everyday.

As you can see from my crudely mapped picture, it is our spirit that connects us with God:

So often we (myself included), allow ourselves to live short of this kind of life because of a number of different things:

- Distraction
The things of life that are the temporary thrills the enemy can use to distract us from being eternally connected with God.

- Guilt

The mistakes we've done can try and come back and grip us with guilt so that no matter how much we want God we feel like we don't have the right to go to Him

There are a number of other things that may be specific to you that the enemy can use to hold you back from living out of your spirit but the greatest thing is that through Christ we have freedom from these things.

Jesus said that He came "to give life and life in abundance". (John 10:10
Abundance can be translated as

fullness to overflowing, over-the-top, extremely plentiful or oversufficient quantity or supply.

God has an overflow and oversufficient supply of life that he is waiting to pour out on us.

You see - in order to have a life of overflowing enthusiasm we have to live out of our spirit. Our spirit that is in direct recieving and giving from God.

So, don't allow yourself to live your life short of the greatness God has for you. He's not asking you to go off and try do something on your own.

All he wants is your heart.

A willing and trusting heart can be used for anything because you're not trying to be someone or do it the way you think it should be done. Allow God to come in and change you from the inside out so that the kind of person He created you to be and the life he's given you begins to flow out.

Don't live out of your mind, or your will, or your emotions, - live out your spirit. The thing that God created to be in constant connection with Him.

Live the way God intented; in connection with His Spirit.

Let others experience God as a result of coming into contact with someone carrying the life of Christ within them.......... YOU !

Please stay on the line

Well for those who know me know that I have just started working at Consumer Link a phone research / survey group. Contrary to popular and strongly mistaken opinion, we are not TeleMarketers.

This is a small blog today but I want to throw out this simple and humble idea, making both my and some other colleague's lives alot easier.

When the phone rings in the middle of your dinner or favourite part of the news and someone on the other end begins their call with something along the lines of:

Good evening, my name is..... from Consumer Link, the Market Research Company.....

Please at least once allow them to finish their sentence before hanging up on them.

Better yet, spare yourself 10 minutes to let their refreshing and exotic voice calm you from your day; giving them the chance to sit back in their chair and connect into some incredible surveying.

Thankyou for making the world a better place, one survey at a time.

what are you doin with YOUR life?

Following a legendary talk with a fantastic friend of mine my attention has been somewhat captured by the discussion of life purpose. Both of us have the absolute desire not just to live life, and I quote, "as its surpossed to be lived".

Who decides how life is surpossed to be lived anyway?

I want my life to make a difference in this world. I don't want me to be the kind of person that was known for my incredibly huge amounts of money flowing from my wallet.

I don't want to be remembered for just being "a nice guy".

I don't even want to be remembered as being someone who was real funny, or someone that looked incredible - I've already got that one sorted.

I want to be known as someone that committed their life into God, obeying the call He has for me - changing the world.

I don't know about you, (gotta love profound sentences that start with that) but there is some part of me that goes against all kind of logic and plan. There is a part of me that is submerging me in a feeling of absolute greatness. Its not some sort of stupid pride pitfall I've stumbled into,
I believe it is the heart cry of every man and woman created by God.
It is the desperate longing to be someone more than just a waste of space and air. It is the gripping sense that you want to be someone that at least makes some sort of change for others around you, in my case, other's salvation.

Even in our secular and massively humanistic world we live in, its still easy to see this same desire driving so many of the popular movies and TV shows around.

So, the purpose of this post is basically to challenge all you who are reading. If you too have the same feeling or desire to do something great - don't think about it logically. Don't supress it. Just because your circumstances seem as though you could never be one to make a difference doesn't mean you can't.

Each of us contains something awesome and incredible - the image of God. That creativity, musical flare, writing flow, firery preaching, ability to inspire and encourage. Whatever it is, use it.

Lets committ to allowing God use us to do and be people of purpose and direction: bringing others to Him what ever way possible.

Strength yo

The change music brings....

Its funny how those who normally wouldn't be chased by thousands of screaming fans and TV shows can become the object of many people's dreams simply by playing music. The worldly steriotype of unattractive people is lost through the playing of some chords. Here are some examples:

I ran into this guy on a boat trip to the South Island earlier
in December...

(notice the unshaven, cardigan look)

AFI vocalist:

By the way, I'm still on the hunt for some more extremely unattractive turned attractive through music musicians, so if you know of some email me:

cheers boys

My greatest fear

As a result of our trip (which is still currently in operation), I have discovered an incredible love. This is no ordinary 'like' or meer temporary phase of feeling, this is a perpetual, eternal, and frequent heart involvement.

I love toilets without a lock.

Now I know what you're thinking, "What kind of person would like, or even consider such a feeling towards such a thing", however, due to many encounters I have come to this decision.

I love how having to "go to the toilet" is embarrasing enough in itself, let alone going in a person's house other than your own, AND without the security of a lock.

I love how in Taupo not only did the door not have a lock, but because it lacked such a vital piece of equipment the door didn't even shut! I love how in Wellington with my Aunty's house, it not only lacked a lock, but the door also was very lucky to even get near its frame and therefore was 'ajar' everytime you closed it. Again, Nana and Grandad's house in Picton was missing a lock on its door, requiring my brother and I to put a 'Rose sented air freshner" on the outside everytime anyone was in there.

I am nearing my end, but, needless to say we are now in Nelson. At the required time I investigated the nessassary place and I was not surprised. As I fixed my eyes towards the opening I saw not only a door without a lock, but also it was a sliding door that did not even give you the security of a few seconds of the door turning on its hinges.

My verdict, if you, or anyone else you know has a toilet without a lock - do the world a favour and grab one. The world will be a better place as you bring freedom from awkwardness, embarrasment and fear through the easy step of attaching a safety lock for your door.

Go on, do it.
You know its the right thing to do.
